It is with great honor that I serve as Coordinating Principal of Elsik High School.  I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty years with a specific concentration in Secondary Mathematics and Instructional Practices. My most recent administrative experience has been shaped by two years of successful leadership as Associate Principal of Instruction at Elsik High School. Prior to joining Elsik, I served as Assistant Principal of Accountability at Alief Taylor HS. Most of my educational experience has been in Houston ISD. While at HISD, I served as Dean of Instruction, Instructional Supervisor and Mathematics Classroom Teacher at the secondary level.
At Elsik HS, in an environment that is equitable for all students, we are committed to developing college and career ready students, who can create, collaborate, communicate and think critically.

I am honored to serve as the Associate Principal of Instruction for the South House at Elsik High School.   I started my journey in education over 15 years ago at Elsik High School and I am excited to be back home.  I have served as a Science Teacher, Instructional Specialist, and Assistant Principal within the district before transitioning to the role of Associate Principal. 

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University, Lamar University, and Tulane Law School.  I believe that education is transformational in the lives of our students and here at Elsik High School we focus on teaching students how to collaborate, respect, and communicate with others to determine creative and innovative solutions to problems.  It is a blessing to be able to work with the students, staff, and community on a daily basis.

Hello everyone. My name is Todd Tones and I am the North House Associate Principal at Elsik High School. This is my 13th year at Elsik High School. 

I am a proud alumnus of Elsik High School and Sam Houston State University. I began teaching in Alief in 1999 as an Art teacher at Killough Middle School. In 2007 I began my administrative career as an Assistant Principal at Klentzman Intermediate. From there I went on to Olle Middle School and then back home to Elsik.

Janice Taylor - Assistant Principal of Accountability

My name is Janice Taylor, and I am thrilled to be the Assistant Principal of Accountability at Elsik High School. I have lived in Houston, TX, and have been an educator in Alief ISD for 20 years. My educational background includes obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in my home city and state of Lafayette, LA. I earned my master’s in Educational Leadership at Prairie View A&M University. My educational journey in Alief ISD began at Alief Learning Center as a 9th -12th grade Social Studies teacher in 2004. After transferring to Alief Taylor High School in 2006, I was privileged to teach and serve as a U.S. History Team Leader for several years. For the past six years, I have been an Instructional Specialist for Elsik High School, where I have supported a system to maximize teachers’ capacity and prepare students for 21st-century learning. My previous experience has empowered and equipped me to improve and challenge all learners, be curriculum-minded, value meaningful relationships, and have a data-centered leadership approach.  

I enjoy traveling and spending time with my three children in my free time. My daughter is a 7th-grade middle schooler, and my sons are elementary students, with one in the 5th and the other in the 2nd grade. I look forward to continuing to work with the school community and stakeholders to impact Elsik High School positively.

I have been in education for 14 years.
7 years at Houston ISD, 4 years at Austin H.S. as a social studies teacher, and 3 years at Sharpstown H.S. as a dean of students.
7 years at Alief ISD, all 7 years at Elsik H.S. as an assistant principal.

Hello, I'm Christopher Cheng, and I proudly serve as an Assistant Principal at Elsik High School. With over 15 years of dedicated service to the Alief family and more than 7 years as part of the Elsik HS community, my journey here has been deeply rewarding.

My career in education has been a dynamic one. Before stepping into the role of an assistant principal, I was an educator, specializing in mathematics. During my time in the classroom, I had the privilege of serving as a Team Leader and Teacher Mentor, where I cultivated a passion for guiding both students and fellow educators towards success.

I hold two bachelor’s degrees in management information systems and marketing/entrepreneurship from the University of Houston, complemented by a master’s in education management from the University of Houston Clear Lake. This unique blend of education and technology has allowed me to bring innovative solutions to the field of education.

My core belief is that all students deserve a nurturing environment where they feel valued and empowered to acquire the knowledge and skills they need for success. At Elsik High School, we wholeheartedly embrace the values of Respect, Integrity, Accountability, Responsibility, and Professionalism, laying the foundation for our students' journey towards excellence.

Hello, it is my honor and pleasure to serve as Assistant Principal for 11th grade students with last names starting with M and continuing through Z.  This is my 5th year hear here at Elsik High School as well as my fifth year in the Alief ISD system. 

Before beginning my career here in Alief, I served the students and community of Clear Creek ISD for 16 years as English Teacher and Department Chair. During my time in education, I have lobbied in Austin on behalf of students, teachers and staff and I continually focus on the school and community connection that makes the partnership between school, parents and community so vital to the education of our students. 

It is my belief that all children can learn and when given the right tools, in an equitable environment, they will grow and flourish to become a productive citizenry that can create, collaborate and think critically to bring us into the brightest of futures.

My name is Graciano Chapa, I’m excited to serve as one of the Assistant Principals of Elsik High School. This is my seventh year as an Assistant Principal at Elsik. Previously I served as Assistant Principal at Olle Middle School, O’Donnell Middle School and Martin Elementary. Before becoming an Assistant Principal, I taught at Miller Intermediate and Youngblood Intermediate as a fifth and sixth grade bilingual teacher. My experience with Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade has given me a unique opportunity to explore the importance of vertical alignment in the developmental processes of children.  Prior to my career in education, I served in the United States Marine Corps where I rose to the rank of sergeant.

My name is Michael Holmquist and this is my 4th year as an assistant principal in the Elsik High School system. I am a proud graduate of Hastings H.S., Houston Baptist University, and Lamar University.

I have had the privilege of teaching math classes and coaching basketball and baseball in my 16 years of educational experience in a number of districts. I believe the most important role as an educator is to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders in order to build up a community that values education and the pursuit of excellence for all students.

Greetings!

My name is Zachary Marin and I am proud to serve as one of the Assistant Principals of Elsik High School. This is my fourth year as an assistant principal and my fourth year at Elsik. I have previously served at Albright Middle School teaching Texas History and coaching football, basketball, soccer and baseball.

I was born and raised in Alief. I attended Chancellor Elementary, Alief Middle School and graduated from Taylor High School in 2006. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Sam Houston State University and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.

It gives me great pleasure to be a part of Elsik’s wonderful community of supportive teachers, staff and families!
