April 6th–10th marks Texas Gifted and Talented (GT) Awareness Week, a time to celebrate and recognize the strengths, creativity, and potential of our gifted learners. This statewide initiative highlights the importance of providing rigorous, engaging instruction that challenges students to think critically, solve complex problems, and expand their academic abilities.

At Elsik High School, we are proud to offer a wide range of advanced academic opportunities that support our GT students and all learners seeking academic growth. As highlighted in our campus profile, Elsik provides 20 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 12+ dual credit courses, and 6 OnRamps courses, giving students access to college-level learning while still in high school. These programs are designed to prepare students for success beyond graduation while fostering independence, responsibility, and intellectual curiosity.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our 65 AP recognized scholars and our strong partnerships with institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin and Houston Community College. Additionally, with over 3,900 students enrolled, a wide variety of academic pathways, and a dedicated staff with an average of 10.8 years of experience, Elsik continues to lead the way in developing globally minded thinkers.

GT Awareness Week is also an opportunity for families to learn more about how these programs can benefit their students. Whether your child is already identified as GT or you are interested in exploring advanced academic pathways, Elsik offers opportunities that meet a variety of student needs and goals.
