The Elsik Rams Cross Country Team competed Saturday at the UIL Region III Preview Meet at Sam Houston State University. The event gave our runners an opportunity to challenge themselves against some of the strongest teams and athletes in the state.
It was a difficult week for the Rams, as several student-athletes battled illness leading up to the competition. Despite those challenges, the team demonstrated tremendous toughness, determination, and heart. Each runner stepped to the starting line prepared to compete, support their teammates, and give their best effort.
Several Rams achieved outstanding individual accomplishments. Mayra Catalan, Amirah Henry, and Daniel Gutierrez recorded new personal records. Omar Parada and Suhaid Herrera earned season-best times.
Returning runners Angel Ulin, Miguel Jimenez, Julian Carmona, and Genesis Hernandez also showed impressive growth by completing the same course faster than they did last season. Their continued progress reflects the commitment, discipline, and hard work they have demonstrated throughout the year.
Although the week brought unexpected obstacles, the Rams remained focused and competed with pride. Their resilience and encouragement of one another represented Elsik High School well. Congratulations to all our runners for continuing to work, improve, and move forward. Way to battle, Mighty Rams! Your Ram family is extremely proud of you!
