Elsik AVID students recently visited the University of Houston–Downtown for a campus experience designed to help them explore college life and think about their futures.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to see a university campus up close and learn more about the opportunities available after high school. Experiences like this help students connect what they are learning in the classroom with their long-term goals. They also give students a chance to picture themselves pursuing higher education and to begin considering the steps that can help them get there.
The AVID program encourages students to build the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to prepare for college and career success. A campus visit can make the college experience feel more familiar and help students see that many paths are open to them.
We are proud of our AVID students for taking this opportunity to learn, ask questions, and imagine what comes next. Thank you to the staff members who helped make the visit possible and continue supporting our students as they work toward their goals.
